Bad breath can afflict anyone and is the most common oral health problem known to man.
There are multiple causes for bad breath:
- Eating odorous foods, such as garlic and onion
- Smoking
- Rotting bits of food caught between your teeth
- Bacteria coating your teeth and gums (gingivitis)
- Nasal and stomach illnesses
Most bad breath causes can be prevented by regular and thorough brushing and flossing of your teeth, gums, and tongue. If your bad breath persists, contact your dentist to ensure you are not suffering from any gum disease.
